You’re a Book Cover Judge
🤔 It’s OK. We all are.
“Never judge a book by its cover.”
But we do. We can’t help ourselves. Our personal histories and biases determine what either compels or repels us. There’s no point in denying this or judging ourselves for instinctively judging others.
What matters is what we do next.
Do we mindlessly trust our initial take, or do we push past page one? Will we give more stories a chance?
Our brains are judgment machines. They’re designed this way to keep us safe. But if we don’t challenge them, if we limit ourselves to the familiar sections of the bookstore, our judgments will also keep us (and our relationships) small.
