We overcomplicate personal growth. James Clear summarized the process in less than twenty words:
“Decide the type of person you want to be. Prove it to yourself with small wins.”
Identity First.
What you have and achieve consistently flows from who you become. Deciding who you want to be in the world is foundational.
If you skip this step, you’ll end up pursuing (and settling for) the wrong things.
Evidence Second.
Your who informs what to do. Focus on small, repeatable actions stacked up over time.
Want to be disciplined? Get up on the first tone of the alarm.
Generous? Tip a little extra each time.
More Creative? Make crappy art every single day.
Decide who you are, and then act in alignment with that identity. Each act is a receipt for the person you’re becoming.
