Paint by number is a good way to create a nicepicture. But you would never call it art.
Art is risky. It’s vulnerable. It’s a generous act of self-expression. (Not to be confused with regurgitation.)
Your life is art. Or at least it can be.
Unless, of course, you decide to paint inside the lines, conforming to the goals, career paths, doctrines, and expectations of others.
The goal isn’t to be original—that’s hard to do in a world where everything is a remix. The goal is to take the materials you’ve been given, along with all the inspiration and color you can find, and create something distinctly you.
And then share it with the world.
