I love this simple formula for living your best life.
Wallace D. Wattles (How great is that name?!) writes,
“The grateful mind is constantly fixed upon the best; therefore it tends to become the best; it takes the form or character of the best, and will receive the best.”
The obvious question is, how does someone cultivate a grateful mind? The same way an artist, musician, or athlete becomes world-class:
Practice.
While it’s true some of us were born with a tendency toward gratitude—shout out to the glass-half-full people reading this—the rest of us have to work at it. And even if we’re naturally wired to see the bright side of things, we can always brighten our perception.
How often do you pause to say thank you, whether aloud or in your heart? What is your method for capturing all the lessons life is teaching you? (And please don’t say your memory. It’s fickle and unreliable.) Who do you have around to point out all your benefits and blindspots?
Your best life isn’t ahead of you. It’s waiting to be developed within you.
